Congratulations to our King’s girls track team on winning the District championship for the 6th year in a row. The boys track team championship streak goes to two in a row.

The girls were led by senior champions Kim Beard with the triple crown (1st Place finishes in Javelin, discus and shotput), Lucy Mortimer (1st Place in High jump and triple jump) and Ivy Stringham (1st Place in 100m and 200m).

District meet records were broken by Kim in discus and Lucy in high jump and triple jump.

The boys were led by senior champions Jeshua Singletary (1st Place in 100m, 200m and long jump) and Andrew Balzer (1st Place in Javelin). Nahom Getachew (1st Place in 1600m) and Aidan Smith (1st Place in high jump) also won their championship events.

District meet records were broken by Jeshua in the 100m and long jump, Andrew in javelin and Nahom in the 1600m.

King’s has 25 boys and 19 girls qualified to the Bi District Championships this week at Granite Falls. Both teams are positioned to place top 4 at State but will need to get by tough competition this week.

Congratulations Jack Kappus and Calvin Williamson, State Golf Qualifiers!

In a crowded field of 44 golfers at Districts, Senior and Valedictorian Calvin Williamson shot an 83 at Riverbend Golf Complex in Kent last week, good for an 8th place finish and a State Qualifying birth. Sophomore Jack Kappus also shot and 83 and will join Calvin in Liberty Lake (Spokane) on Tuesday and Wednesday this week at MeadowWood Golf Course.

Calvin will tee off at 8:20am and Jack will tee off at 8:30am. To follow hole by hole, download the iWanamaker app and search WIAA State Golf Championships.

Baseball wins 13 inning thriller followed by dominant victory to secure bid to State!

To say it was a nailbiter is an understatement. With multiple opportunities for the game to go the other way, the Knights resiliency showed in full force last Saturday. Overcoming an early 4-1 deficit and then later surviving a bases loaded 1 out situation, the Knights came through in the clutch, winning 8-6 in 13 innings over UPrep. An unscheduled 6 IP from Brady Reiss, with big time hits from Reiss, Jakob Fowler, Nate Echelbarger, and Titan Root, the Knights knocked out the Pumas who had beaten them twice previously.

The following Saturday the Knights took on the Borderites from Blaine. It was the Sam Ruhlman show. The Knight righty pitched 7 scoreless innings giving up just one hit on the day. A team effort at the plate came away with 8 runs and the 8-0 win going away. The 3rd/4th place game vs Overlake-Bear Creek did not go the Knights way, but regardless of that result, the Knights are in the 16-team State Tournament field.

They will take on Lakeside (9 Mile Falls) this Saturday at 10am at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham. The winner of that game plays same day versus the winner of Lynden Christian and Naches Valley.
