Kim Beard with record-breaking Hammer throw at Oregon Relays

kim

Kim Beard took to Eugene, Oregon for the Oregon Relays and took down one of the longest-standing meet records last weekend. She threw the hammer 191-00 (58.23m) to beat a 10-year-old record by almost 9 feet. The previous record holder was two-time world champion and Olympic Champion Camryn Rogers. The Illinois commit is the #1 ranked Hammer thrower in the nation for the past 3 years and #1 in the State in Disc and defending State Champion. Kim will look to continue her success this outdoor season, culminating with the WIAA State Championships at the end of May and U20’s in June right back at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, the same field Kim one day hopes to qualify for the Olympics. We are so proud of Kim and know the best is still yet to come!

King’s Track and Field is off to a great start this season, including Nahom Getachew breaking the junior class record in the 800m. The distance medley boys team of Sam Richards, Ian Hwang, Jackson Dyvig, and Nahom Getachew ran the 3rd best time in school history.

Knights Baseball looking to continue strong start to season

The Knights are off to a great start to the 2026 season, with a 6-2 overall record and impressive 4-1 start within their tough Emerald Sound Conference. On Monday, the Knights took on Cascade Christian. The bats were slow to get going, but pitcher Sam Ruhlman kept the Cougars at bay at the plate, with 6.1 strong innings and 7 strikeouts, giving up just 1 run. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the 6th, Jakob Fowler took a walk that led to a big time hit from Kevan McGeever, scoring the tying run in Fowler. A triple by Brady Reis had McGeever circle around the bases to score the go-ahead run. Heading to the top of the 7th up 2-1, the Cougars loaded up the bases with just one out. Reliever Jakob Fowler came in to close in a critical situation, and changed speeds to earn a key strikeout for the 2nd out. A ground out to reliable shortstop John Bjella was the final out of the game and the Knights came away with the 2-1 win.

The Knights will hope to continue their early season success back at Shorewood HS this Friday as they take on King’s Way Christian in a key 1A battle.

Boys Soccer

Knights Soccer returns from break ready to put State on notice

King’s Boys Soccer has high hopes coming off their quarterfinal State run last year. Their 3-2-2 record is a bit deceiving, with an impressive 3-1 win over Overlake and 2-0 win over State Finalist Bush. The Knights are lead in goal by strong keeper Peter Bruce and scoring from Ethan Cho (5), Jackson Kelly (4), and Owen Lancaster (4). The Knights hit the road this Friday to take on 3A Liberty before returning to Woolsey next Tuesday and Thursday. Playing in the toughest league in the State, the Knights will look to take one of three State tournament bids. Coach Danny and the team will need a strong 2nd half leading into the critical league playoffs in early May.

Boys Golf

Knights Boys Golf takes flight

One of the indicators of a program’s success is its ability to retain and grow the program. Our Boys Golf team has done just that, due in large part to leadership from Coach Dave and Adam. From 23 participants last year to 38 this year, our Boys Golf Program is on the rise. And the results have followed, with 3 early season match wins and several qualifying scores. Jack Kappus, Calvin Williamson, and Quinn Mortimer lead King’s Golf so far this season with several strong rounds. The team will look to continue their success as they continue league play with CPC and South Whidbey before League Championships in mid-May.
