Cheer

Our cheer team is preparing for STATE! But before the Knights hit the mat down by the OR/WA border, we get a chance to celebrate seniors Ava Pierce and Sloane Ruotsala. This Friday at halftime of the boys 7:30pm game, the Knights will highlight the dedication of our seniors! Join us to celebrate Ava and Sloane!

The Knights then head to Battleground this Saturday as they perform in the Game Day Small division category at STATE! The Knights look to defend their State Championship in a field of 7 teams. They take the mat at 12:10pm on Saturday, February 7th. Please join me in praying for our Lady Knights, for safe travels and that they might give their best performance and continue to reflect Christ in all things!

Next Up: February 7 State Championships at Battleground High School, performance at 12:10pm

Special season continues for the Knights

In the long, storied history of King’s Girls Basketball, the 2025-26 team has the capability to be something special. The Knights continue to put on a show on the hardwood with a dominant victory at home on Wednesday night over Cle-Elum. In an up-and-down game at a breakneck pace, the Knights lead 18-15 after 1. In the blink of an eye, it was 37-15 as the Knights rolled off a 19-0 run to start the 2nd quarter. Molly Kyler went 5/6 from the 3 point line to lead the Knights in scoring with 19. Kaleo Anderson poured in 17 of her own and added 21 rebounds and 7 assists in a eye popping performance. Kaitlin Cramer added 17 of her own as the Knights lead from start to finish and came away with a 70-44 win.

The Lady Knights then hit the road to meet the Scotties in a cross-town matchup with Shorecrest on Friday night. Kaleo Anderson lead the Knights with 29 pts and 11 rebound, followed by 16 from Kaitlin Cramer and 9 from Eleanor Gaydos and the Knights took home another win. The jam packed week of games concluded in Puyallup on Saturday as the Knights faced fellow 1A Christian school Cascade Christian. With an incredible 26-1 start, the Knights never looked back as they rolled to a 56-29 victory. Kaleo Anderson lead the team with 23 points followed by 11 from Kaitlin Cramer and 7 apiece for Molly Kyler and Cam Pich. With their 8th win in a row, King’s improves to 16-4 on the year and currently sit at #2 overall in the RPI. Important to note, the RPI is just one of the factors the State seeding committee uses to rank the 16 Teams in the State Tournament.

This week the Knights singular focus is on a very good Jackson Timberwolves team. The 4A opponent comes to Mike Martin Gym with a 12-5 record on Friday Night, our Senior Night. You don’t want to miss this high level game as we celebrate our 4 special seniors this Friday, February 6, game at 5:00pm with ceremony immediately after. The class of 2026 is lead by Adeline Cox, Kaitlin Cramer, Kaleo Anderson, and Maddie Schilperoort.

Next Up: Feb 6 game at 5pm, Senior Night ceremony follows game

Boys Basketball

It’s not how you start, but how you FINISH

This line is used often in locker rooms and coach speak. The embodiment of character and toughness is how you respond to adversity. That grit was never more evident this week for the King’s Boys Basketball team. A crucial road matchup started off the week as the Knights headed to Bear Creek looking for redemption from an earlier loss but looking even more so for an identity rooted in grit and toughness. It was never going to be easy but Coach Stack and the Knights were up for the challenge. Down 14-11 after 1, the Knights battled back with some full court pressure and four 3’s in the 2nd quarter. A back-and-forth 3rd quarter sent us to the 4th with the Knights clinging to a 42-41 lead. And in a packed Grizzly Den, it was the Knights who came out red hot with a 9-0 run to start the 4th quarter thanks to a pair of buckets from Owen Lindblad and Dozie Asinobi. The Knights closed out the final quarter 22-8 and took home the 64-49 win on the road. Andrew Gerbig lead King’s with 17, Dozie Asinobi with 14, and Drew Evans with 11 on 3/5 from 3.

The Knights had little time to celebrate the key league win, as they headed down to Puyallup for another important 1A battle on Saturday night. The Cougars of Cascade Christian came in at 12-5 overall and a top 10 State RPI ranking. The Knights were once again without PG Zaphie Cooper, out with an injury, so it would have to be point guard by committee for the Knights. A half court bank 3 from the Cougars ended the 1st quarter with Cascade Christian leading 18-11. A defensive battle, the Knights headed to the locker room down just 3 at the half. It would be knotted up a 48 apiece in the 4th. A few minutes go by scoreless, before a lose ball offensive rebound finish by Drew Evans broke the stalemate and gave the Knights the lead. A beautiful pick and lob play for Gerbig extended the lead to 4, and a few key FT’s down the stretch gave the Knights the lead for good as they would go on to win 54-48. Scoring gets the highlights and attention, but the selfless charges the Knights took were keys to victory, lead by Andrew Gerbig and Blake Needham.

The Knights boys team is starting to find its place among the top 1A teams in the State, currently listed at #5 in the RPI.  King’s Boys Basketball closes out league play this week starting on Tuesday as they take on a very capable #9 RPI team Overlake Owls. Then, The Knights will celebrate their 7 special seniors Feb 6 prior to the 7:30pm tipoff against Northwest. The class of 2026 to be honored is Greyson Armbruster, Colton Adams, Trey Dennison, Warren Bartram, Dozie Asinobi, Andrew Gerbig and Blake Needham.
